Sons of the American Legion Post 996
Welcome to Post 996- Royal, Illinois

Nearly 200,000 men of various ages are active members of the Sons of The American Legion. Together with members of The Legion and The Legion Auxiliary, they work to promote a variety of programs. The “Legion Family” now boasts a membership of over four millions, making it the largest veterans’ organization in the world.

The Sons of The American Legion promotes programs for children and youth. Members contribute time and energy to programs that foster patriotism and citizenship throughout our nation. Since 1987, members have contributed more than $400,000 to the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation.

The Sons of The American Legion has committed its support and resources to helping the Citizens Flag Alliance and efforts to adopt an amendment to our Constitution which would protect the Flag of the United States.

Each year, members of the Sons of The American Legion donate thousands of hours as volunteers and generate thousands of dollars in contributions that are used to assist veterans’ hospitals and veterans’ retirement homes throughout the country.

The Sons of The American Legion is well known for its involvement at the local level, undertaking civic projects, providing services to those in need and sponsoring fund raising events for the American Legion Emergency relief Fund. Member have organized benefits for families tragically effected by fires, earthquakes, floods and other disasters.

American Legion Post #996 meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 7:30 at the Royal Community Building.
